Our Fairy is sick…

Over Thanksgiving we thought Jacquelyn had caught a cold.. turns out it’s pneumonia!! Fortunately it is a very mild case at that, nothing to get hospitalized over. It seems Jacquelyn has asthma, we had a suspicion about that earlier last year when we had to give her breathing treatments through a nebulizer. Although the Dr. assures us that it’s caused by the poor air quality in Bakersfield and that she will outgrow it, it’s still unnerving.
The last couple of days has been very rough, as we have been trying to break her fever. Today, is a big improvement. She’s laughing, talking and smiling.. and back to following us everywhere!
Believe it or not, yesterday she was too sick to eat any cookies!! So, this afternoon she’s making up for it.
F.Y.I.
Jacquelyn’s height is off the charts!! She is 21 months and 35 1/2 inches tall!! And, she’s in the 50Th percentile for her weight, weighing in at almost 26lbs.

San Diego

We were invited to spend a weekend in San Diego with a two incredible people.. yes that’s right my parents! =) It was there 19Th anniversary and we were so very happy to have spent it with them. Also, it was a great way to take our minds off of Sam’s surgery that was a week-and-half away. Here are some photos from the trip.. 99% of all photos are complimentary of Sam =) Didn’t he do a great job?!

Doesn’t she resemble Mrs. Clause? =)

Welcome, Will!

Baby Will was born ( 8lbs, 3oz) to my beautiful sister and her wonderful husband yesterday morning. Will is the youngest of six, and being the only boy he will have five sisters to mother him! =)
Will is also my parents eleventh grandchild!
Congratulations, Mike and Amy! We are so very happy for you.

It’s Done! PHOTOS INCLUDED NOT FOR THE SQUIMISH

Well, Tuesdays surgery was a success!! Both hips were replaced. The right hip was replaced first and took allot more time than estimated.
This hip was extremely ruined and already going through the median wall. In fact a portion of the head is still there, and used for “bone graph” because it would not dislocate and because there was nothing there for the “cup” to be placed in. The surgery nurse was afraid that because the length of surgery they would not be able to do the left hip. But, the Dr. really likes Sam and knew that he wouldn’t be a “pain of a patient” , so they went ahead and did the left. From what we hear (hospital gossip), both hips being done at this hospital is a first , so on Wednesday before transferring out of ICU, he had an audience when he stood for the first time.
Sam was transferred out of ICU and into his own private room. Later that afternoon he was able to do some sitting in a “very uncomfortable” lazy boy looking chair, his blood pressure was a little low… Thursday, Sam was able to walk with the aid of crutches around 200 feet throughout the day. Toady’s recovery was a little slower.. his blood count is still very low for him, as was his blood pressure earlier today. This caused him to be dizzy and not to be able to do any physical training..
Although, tentatively scheduled to be released on Saturday, he still has been unable to complete certain milestones.. so , he may be released at a later time.

Cool Morning

Here are a few photos of Jacquelyn helping Sam clean out the car this morning.

Sam’s Hip Replacements

As many of you may know, that Sam is in desperate need of having both his hips replaced. That time has finally come!! =)
Tomorrow, both hips will replaced at the Valley Presbyterian Hospital, in Van Nuys. It’s a short hospital stay and we are expecting to have him home by Thursday.
Joining us will be: Jacquelyn, Dan and my parents. I will post as soon as we get home and let everyone know how he is recovering.
