Sedona

Okay.. so I finally have a few pictures ready to show you guys from our trip!

Our little adventure began the day after Christmas. We woke up at around 5am or so.. thanks to the girls :)
We made a pot of coffee and waited till 7 so we could say goodbye to everyone.. which only ended being Mike K. who was returning from walking the dogs and Mike D.

One thing I would like to mention is that there should be “special navigation” for those who are traveling in an RV or who are pulling stuff.

Our lovely navigation took us though a very scenic drive (10 hwy, 71, 89). I would say that this route is definitely not intended to be driven in a 37ft RV pulling a Honda pilot! Thankfully for us, aside from Sam’s great driving, we took this route basically once it was beyond dark with hardly any other drivers on the road!!!!! Once we hit Jerome patrons from restaurants stepped outside and shook there heads at us. What makes this route suck? Well.. it’s two lanes.. with a drop off on one side while switch-backing onto itself.

By the time we reached cottonwood, are breaks had boiled over and became aired.. which basically means they were super soft to non-existent. So we just pulled over on the side of the road and went to sleep. While getting ready for bed we discovered that the heater went out.. yup, Arizona in the winter is pretty cold!!! Luckily we had stock pile of blankets that Twink gave us!!

In the morning.. Sam tried to determine the damage to our braking system only to realize that the Honda’s battery was dead. Luckily an early morning citizen on his way to church stopped and gave us a jump. With a few directions we rolled in Dead Horse Ranch State Park.

It rained for a few days.. so we spent some quality time just hanging out and on the nice days.. we went into Sedona. It was a wonderful relaxing trip, with several visits to Wal-Mart and Home Depot!

Here are a few photos..

Our Christmas

Happy New Year Everyone!! We hope it was pleasant and safe for all. I’m very behind on blogging.. We have just returned from our Sedona, AZ trip after Christmas and I’m almost caught up on laundry and cleaning.. ;)

We had a wonderful Christmas over at Mike and Twinks. We arrived Christmas Eve and had a relaxing time with, pizza, gift wrapping and of course the adult beverages :)! Christmas morning the girls began with there stocking surprises while waiting for everyone else to arrive. Luckily everyone came just before the girls diminishing patience was down to zero..

Uncle Mike and his friend Mary Sue were there from Tahoe, Grandpa Jim and Grandma Peggy, Dan and Kalani, Mike and Twink and us. Later we were able to meet Melissa and Shawn. It was great the Shawn was there and the girls were able to meet there other cousin for a little while.

We are able to speak with Scott & Jana, Angela & Mike in Liverpool for a few minutes to say hello and Merry Christmas! Although it was great speaking with them it certainly wasn’t the same as having them there with us at Christmas! We really missed you guys and hope to see you soon!

Here are a few photos..

I’ll be posting some photos from our Sedona trip soon!

Dland Jolly Fun

We had a great time at Disneyland yesterday! We met up Mitzi there… Logan was super excited to be picked for Star Wards Jedi training. Obviously the girls had a great time on Thunder Mountain. Later we went to California Adventure. Jacquelyn has been begging for a year to ride the Ferris Wheel.. Mitzi has a super cute video of it on her 365 Days Blog.  There are some other really cute pics from her other blog, I borrowed a couple of them.. but be sure to check them out!

Here are some pics!

Carlsbad, CA

60 degrees and no heater

That was this morning.. I got out of bed with Sam.. actually I heard a rather large commotion and Sam saying, “I can’t believe I did that”. So I climbed out of my toasty bed.. (Sam threw my favorite blanket on the bed after his shower - which caused me to go into a super deep sleep).

I’m sure your wondering what the commotion was.. Sam hit his head so hard (on the short slider door casing) and it knocked him on his ass! Poor guy! His head was bleeding and everything!

Anyways.. it was then that I started realizing how cold it was. The thermostat read 60 degrees. I turn it on and nothing happens for like an hour. What do you do? Call Sam of course! and decide to bake something!

What do you bake at 7 in the morning? Biscuits! But guess what happens when you have 3 people talking to you while your measuring? Biscuit cookies! =)

This was a very simple recipe..

2 cups of self-rising flower
1 cup of milk and
1/2 cup of shortening

if you want to make biscuit cookies.. just add another cup of milk!

3 napping - what do you do?

Wow! I can’t believe it.  I have three napping people in the house - what do I do??? Clean?  Nope.. just drink some coffee and do nothing…

HOW IS THAT SAM CAN BE DEAD ASLEEP UNTIL I GET MY CAMERA???
It must have been that pot of coffee.. I made..

The rest of the pics were of the girls running around before dinner at my parents on Thursday..

Disneyland with the girls

Sam needed to work yesturday so I took the girls and met Mitzi and kids at Disneyland.

We both happened to arrive at the same time and were parked 2 cars down from each other!  Once we were there I discovered I had no memory card! Go figure!  I took this photo from my iphone. Go take a look at Mitzi blog she has some great photos up!

RV Christening

We finally have been able to take the RV out on our first trip. Coincidentally Scott & Anne & family were also taking out there RV this weekend, we decided to join them at KQ Ranch in Julian.

Our adventure started at around 9 or so.. we went to the grocery store.. fun trying to find parking..  had a quick bite to eat then stopped for some gas.  Who knew how impatient everyone can be while your filling up! Anyways..  while we were pulling out.. we failed to notice the pitch of the drive way.. the combination of the pitch and the weight of our water and gas.. we got a little stuck..

If you drove pass New Chicago & Florida Ave Friday morning at around 10:30 and there was a 37′ RV blocking the road that was us! :) We had it blocked for a solid hour until after many failed attempts of removing ourselves were save by AAA.

We arrived and checked in around 4ish or so..  got hooked up,  had some hamburgers and smores.  Scott & Anne arrived a little later maybe around 9ish?? I was already in bed.. but Sam and Jacquelyn were able to hang out with them.

Saturday we had a breakfast buffet, we made eggs, pancakes and bacon. SARJ (scott, anne, riley and jaime) brought some very yummy parfaits! London was wearing it all day.

After breakfast we took a stroll around the park..  I was a little disappointed with the lake.. you were supposed to be able to catch fish in it.. I’m afraid if we tried we might have caught something else.. oh well..   after our stroll we came back had some lunch followed by a nap and a BBQ.

Scott made grilled asparagus wrapped in bacon, corn on the cob, bacon wrapped shrimp and some kielbasa. We weren’t too adventures this time out.. we stuck with the hamburgers! But, my babe can make a great burger! :)   Later we took a stroll to watch the sunset followed by smores.

Sunday morning after our orientation with the resort we went into Julian and had some lunch.. then off to home!

Here are some photos..

Apple time

We decided to head down to Julian today and what a great day! The weather was perfect for the dart. We took the scenic way all the way through Sage..

We stopped at Calico Ranch to pick some apples! Afterward we drove into Julian and had a great lunch at Rong Branch. Sam had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the beef dip, the prices were reasonable and the portions were large enough that all four of us left happy! The apple pie was yummy too!

Here are some photos for today..

I just love the antique oven!!

37 footer

Yup we took the plunge!! I can’t believe we did it! We bought an RV!! We have been talking about getting an RV for a couple of years.. and after our Yosemite trip this summer it emphasized how great it would be to some day have an RV and travel cross country, visit the family, state and national parks, etc….

Apparently we don’t know the difference between talking and buying!!  Around a month ago or so.. Sam had saw an RV parked for sale..  then it was gone.. then a week later it was back with the price reduced.  We decided to call and see what the scoop was..  turns out it was a deal we couldn’t pass up!

This is a ‘92 Holiday Rambler with 24,000 original miles!!!

Of course the girls have traveled in it before I did… funny how that happens..  anyways.. so we took it to put some gas and grab some dinner.. here are some photos.
